COVID-19 Education: What Everyone Should Know

🦠 What is COVID-19?

COVID-19 is an infectious disease caused by the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. It was first identified in December 2019 and quickly spread worldwide, leading to a global pandemic.


📍 How Does It Spread?

  • Through respiratory droplets when an infected person coughs, sneezes, talks, or breathes.

  • By touching contaminated surfaces and then touching your face (mouth, nose, eyes).

  • In crowded or poorly ventilated indoor spaces.

  1. Wear a Mask – Especially in crowded or indoor settings.

  2. Maintain Physical Distance – At least 1 meter (3 feet).

  3. Wash Hands Frequently – With soap and water or alcohol-based sanitizer.

  4. Avoid Touching Face – Especially eyes, nose, and mouth.

  5. Stay Home if Unwell – Isolate and seek medical advice.

  6. Ensure Good Ventilation – In homes, schools, and offices.


💉 Vaccination

  • COVID-19 vaccines are safe and effective in preventing severe illness, hospitalization, and death.

  • Booster doses are recommended based on age, risk, and public health guidelines.

  • Even vaccinated individuals should continue preventive practices during outbreaks.


🤒 Symptoms of COVID-19

  • Fever or chills

  • Cough

  • Shortness of breath

  • Fatigue

  • Loss of taste or smell

  • Sore throat, muscle aches, or headaches

  • Nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea

Note: Some people may remain asymptomatic but still spread the virus.


🏥 What to Do if You Feel Sick?

  • Isolate yourself immediately.

  • Get tested at a certified center.

  • Follow medical advice and monitor symptoms.

  • Seek emergency care if experiencing difficulty breathing or chest pain.


🧠 Mental Health During the Pandemic

  • Stay connected virtually with friends and family.

  • Maintain a routine, exercise, and sleep well.

  • Seek help from mental health professionals if feeling overwhelmed.
