Interview with Ritu Gupta
About
With an education spanning psychology, child development, mental retardation, counselling and family therapy from Lady Irwin College and IGNOU; Ritu Gupta is a front runner in the fields of counselling and learning disabilities in India.
A mental health advocate, she taught at Delhi university before spending a decade with a special school, Sankalp, a unit of one of the largest NGOs in India- NWWA or Naval wive’s welfare association, as a special educator, counsellor and vocational educator. She continued to explore the field of counselling at the naval school and dealt with specific behavioural problems such as dyslexia and hyperactivity; as well as adolescent issues.
For the past 8 years, she has been a counsellor for young children and their parents at DPS International school. In her time to spare, she sings, holds the home front for the Indian Navy and counsels academics, specially biologists, who need guidance and someone to listen to their concerns.
