Dr. Rizvi’s research interests include the interdisciplinary study of biology and mechanics using theoretical and numerical approaches of solid and fluid mechanics and systems biology. He did his B.Tech, and PhD from IIT Kanpur, followed by a three year postdoc at Université Grenoble Alpes and CNRS, Grenoble, France. Apart from research, he is an avid birder and cyclist.
Dr. Jolly e presence of hybrid epithelial/mesenchymal phenotypes in cancer metastasis. Then, he worked as a Gulf Coast Consortia Postdoctoral Fellow jointly at Rice University and UT MD Anderson Cancer Center with Prof. Herbert Levine and Prof. Samir Hanash, developing data-based and spatially extended computational models for tumor microenvironment, before moving to India.
Besides thinking about systems biology approached to decode cancer metastasis and therapy resistance, He is passionate about effective science communication and outreach, and affiliated with the Centre for Society and Policy at IISc to pursue that realm of interests.
Dr. Chirmule is an immunologist and a music enthusiast. Professionally he held senior leadership positions for over 30 years in the pharmaceutical industry at Biocon, Amgen, and Merck in the department of Clinical Immunology overseeing drug development. He is now an entrepreneur and founded a data analytics company, SymphonyTech Biologics, with his engineer-friends, Ravi Khare, and Atul Khandekar. The tag-line for SBX is “finding engineering solutions to biological problems.” His scientific expertise is in the area of immune responses to biologics and vaccines. In Biologics, He has published extensively on immunogenicity prediction and assessment, predictive toxicology, and quality-by-design. His experience spans the development of assays for various viruses and bacteria to supporting the operations of very large clinical trials in vaccines. He is also an advisor to the Ebola virus consortium, a reviewer on the HIV vaccine study section for the National Institutes of Health, and recently on the Task-Force for COVID-19.
