The Pain of a Pathogen

By Rashi Jain

I am very sad and lonely

I just want to be loved solely

Long time ago, I was a King’s disease

Now people scold me with various memes.

I am a cute little tuberculosis

My forefathers are airborne bacteria of notorious races

Neither I am deadly, nor am I wicked

Who says this, should be kicked.

I just want to be friend with you

Want to stroll everywhere within you

But I don’t like active people

Who eat healthy and do regular check-ups.

I live in your lungs latently

Without disturbing you, for, longly

I would like to stay with you forever

It can happen if you don’t bother fever, chills and terror.

Your body becomes consumed, fatigued and shattered

But surely this is not the result of my efforts.

The music of cough is my favourite

Please do not switch it off with antibiotic treatment.

You can contact me in malnourished state

I would be happy to help you with my infectious traits.
