BioVerse Challenge 2025: Thermo Fisher Invites Biotech Startups to Accelerate Innovation
Thermo Fisher Scientific, in collaboration with the Government of India’s Startup India initiative, has launched the BioVerse Challenge 2025, a nationwide program aimed at accelerating high-potential biotech startups across India. The challenge is designed to provide cutting-edge technology access, expert mentorship, and skill-building support to help startups scale innovations and drive the country’s growing bioeconomy.

- Last Date to Apply: March 31, 2026
- Results Announcement: May 15, 2026

Who Can Apply?
The challenge is open to DPIIT-recognized Indian startups working in the life sciences and biotechnology sectors. Eligible startups should:
- Be founded by Indian nationals
- Be at early or growth stage with scalable and market-relevant innovations
- Have a defined or evolving business model
- Demonstrate strong technological capability
- Preferably be linked with incubators, academia, or industry

The program targets innovations across key domains, including:
- Biologics: Vaccines, immunotherapies, cell & gene therapies
- Industrial biotechnology
- Bioenergy and green biotech
- Marine biotechnology
- Agriculture and food biotechnology
- Medtech and diagnostics
Program Benefits
Selected startups will be categorized into two groups:
Trailblazers (Up to 20 Startups)
- Access to advanced technologies at Thermo Fisher facilities in India
- Customized training and skill-building programs
- Mentorship, partnerships, and collaboration opportunities
Rising Stars (Up to 50 Startups)
- Access to expert mentorship
- Networking and collaboration opportunities
Selection Process
Applicants must submit a detailed business proposal covering:
- Problem statement and innovation
- Market opportunity and business model
- Financial projections
- Proof of concept or validation
- Expected societal and economic impact
- Areas where support is required
Applications will be evaluated by Thermo Fisher Scientific along with an expert advisory board comprising members from industry, academia, and government.
