Silk, historically known for its textile value, is now being explored for biomedical uses due to its exceptional properties—high mechanical strength, biocompatibility, non-cytotoxicity, low immunogenicity, and biodegradability.
India, particularly Karnataka, is a major producer of mulberry silk, but significant silk waste is generated in the supply chain. Fibroheal aims to utilize this non-textile silk waste to develop cost-effective, innovative products that:
