From the Lab Bench to the Lead Office: Share your story
Are you a scientist who swapped a pipette for a project plan? A researcher who moved from managing data to managing people? We want to hear your story.
The transition from a technical expert to a people leader is a pivotal moment in any professional’s career. In the fast-evolving Indian biotechnology and life sciences ecosystem, this shift comes with its own unique set of challenges—balancing R&D deadlines, navigating cross-functional team dynamics, and bridging the gap between the lab and the boardroom.
Biopatrika is thrilled to announce a new book project: “First Time Manager.” We are seeking authentic, “in-the-trenches” stories from professionals across the Indian life sciences industry who have successfully (or even clumsily!) navigated their first leadership role. Whether you are in a startup, a multinational corporation, or a research institution, your experiences can serve as a roadmap for the next generation of Indian science leaders.
What We Are Looking For:
We are inviting guest entries that reflect real-world experiences. We are not looking for textbook management theory; we want the unfiltered reality. Consider these themes:
-
The Pivot: The moment you realized being “the best scientist” wasn’t enough to be a “good manager.”
-
The Learning Curve: A specific challenge you faced—be it conflict resolution, budget management, or building a team culture—and how you overcame it.
-
The Indian Context: Managing unique cultural nuances within Indian biopharma or academic settings.
-
The Advice: One thing you wish someone had told you before you took the promotion.
How to Participate
If you have a story to share or a lesson learned that could empower others, we invite you to submit your entry for a chance to be featured in the book.

Why Contribute?
By sharing your journey, you contribute to a growing body of knowledge tailored specifically to the Indian biotech workforce. Featured contributors will be recognized in the publication and on the Biopatrika platform, positioning you as a thought leader in the scientific community.
Help us build the manual you wish you had when you started.
