🌱 About the Fellowship
India faces a critical challenge: a severe shortage of healthcare professionals willing to serve in rural and under-resourced areas. The Azim Premji Health Equity Fellowship is designed to change that narrative by offering young doctors real-world exposure to the complexities of delivering care to the most marginalized communities.
🎓 Who Can Apply?
- Postgraduate doctors in Family Medicine, Community Medicine, General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Paediatrics, General Surgery, Anaesthesia, Ophthalmology, Orthopaedics, or Psychiatry.
- Graduates from the 2018–2025 batches with or without prior work experience.
- Proficiency in Hindi, English, and regional language (as per site location).
🔍 Fellowship Highlights
- Work in reputed hospitals under the mentorship of experienced doctors.
- Serve in rural and tribal communities across two different locations.
- Receive a monthly honorarium (see FAQ for details).
- Get certified and participate in a placement process post-fellowship.
- Be part of a network of passionate, mission-driven doctors.
📍 Programme Design
- 18-month programme hosted at secondary hospitals in resource-scarce areas.
- Two site rotations: ~9 months at the anchor site, 7 months at a second site, and 2 months for perspective building or off-site activities.
- Each Fellow will work with a designated mentor to set personal learning goals and track progress.
